Hi, I’m Roya. Welcome to my culinary journey…
A space where I write, savor, photograph, and share with you my passion for cooking. I truly LOVE getting creative in the kitchen, always using fresh whole food, fruits, and vegetables. Although classically trained in gorgeous French cuisine (oh my dear butter), I’m also certified in health-supportive and plant-based cooking and strive for dairy-free and gluten-free cooking as much as possible. After all, we all could use a happy balance.
I find myself to be quite the worldly mix. Born in Baghdad with Iranian roots, raised in Dubai, educated in the U.S, and now married to a German! It definitely keeps things interesting, especially in the kitchen where I get to play with a cabinet full of diverse ingredients… from exotic spices like saffron and cardamom, to earthy juniper berries and caraway, right through to my favourite aromatic herbs; thyme and dill.
My current home is in sunny Dubai, with its bustling city life, shopping malls, sandy beaches, and high-in-the-sky towers. It’s a haven for food lovers with its celebrity-chef restaurants, spice markets, and produce from around the world. My other home is in rainy Portland, Oregon which I visit every year to connect with my family, relish in beautiful lush nature, find loads of inspiration for seasonal-based dishes, and enjoy some creatively weird food!
I hope to inspire you to browse around, and try out some recipes… from simple mouth-watering dishes to home-made gourmet meals. And because everyone is different, can have various dietary needs, or just plain HATES eggplant (my brother!) I hope that you see these recipes as ideas and inspiration to adapt to your own taste buds and wonderful creative expressions.
